The Ruins of Gyan'dis
Gyan'dis was an illithid (mind flayer) colony recently destroyed by a cataclysm of their own making. In an attempt to build an army of thralls that could conquer the Black Loch, the colony's elder brain had the illithids construct an ancient piece of technology called an incepting tank. Long ago, these devices were used at the height of the Illithid Empire's power to grant psionic abilities to their servants, allowing their "lessers" to better carry out their tasks.
The plan was going well until the tanks were (unknowingly to the elder brain) sabotaged by members of the Architects of the Awakening as they snuck into the colony to retrieve illithid tadpoles for their own experiments. The tampering caused the thralls that emerged from the tanks to be incredibly powerful psionics, so much so that the illithids lost the ability to control them. Horrified that it may be about to unleash another species akin to the gith into the world, the elder brain released the most powerful psionic wave it could. This action killed both the elder brain itself and nearly everything else living in Gyan'dis, leaving the colony an empty ruin.
It was then that the Architects of the Awakening returned, this time accompanied by drones belonging to Haz, to scavenge the ruins for anything useful, namely the incepting tanks. They were interrupted by the adventurers of the Thaig Expedition, who destroyed the drones and killed a mercenary the Architects had brought with them. The Architects attacked the adventurers in retaliation, but fled after one of their number was killed upon seeing Leh'ct Arlathil was capable of revivfying magic and that the adventurers had energized Threads of Fate (referring to them as 'Godtouched' upon noticing this).
As the adventurers took their leave, the wizard Villamax used his magic to destroy what remained of the colony.
