Starmont
Starmont is a strategically, politically, and historically significant city both for the Kingdom of Aurelia and Kalin at large.
It is perhaps best known for being the home of the famous Wayfarers of legend, along with being the city that Lady Evoda Vitri ruled and where she and Jayllin helped forge the powerful Aurelian spy and diplomat apparatus that gives Aurelia much of its power.
In the common day Starmont remains an important strategic location, maintaining most of Aurelia's southern border with the Impero Tharrisian (along with all the trade with said Impero), as well as being the home of the Strongheart noble family. It is also known for its ancient motto: "Starmont Stands."
Demographics
The city and surrounding Allod is a mixture of merchants, farmers, and laborers to support both. Most factories are found in Northern and Eastern Aurelia, but some exist here. Racially, the city is made up primarily of Humans, but Olark and Dwarves also have significant populations.
Government
Starmont is in an odd position. Technically, all Allods of Aurelia, and their capital cities, are ruled by elected Nadzorca that oversee the region. But for generations since the Constitution of Aurelia was signed, the Strongheart family of nobility, the inheritors of the Allod from the Vitri's, have usually served as Nadzorca. The family takes great pride in being competent rulers of the Allod, and that has been rewarded in a near political monopoly on the region. Though on rare occasion the city and the Allod have elected non-Strongheart Nadzorcas.
Defences
While Castle Starmont is still a nearly unassailable fortress in the modern day, the real defenses of the city and Allod are the small contingent of the Aurelian Army allowed to it, along with Rycerz Herolda raised to their position by the Stronghearts.
