Joakim Lovdahl, a former mercenary and noted war hero of The Return, took a small personal army to the former lands of the Gir'An and over a protracted decades-long military campaign forged it into his personal kingdom. After taking the land as his, he declared himself Har-Konungr or High King, and formed what would become known as Nordanvald. In the decades to come, the Kingdom would grow to include the former nation of Holriad, as well as the former lands of the so called "Northern Tribes."
