Assassination of Abberon and Initial Rule of Corai

Political event

"Mourn the hero my husband had been, not the tyrant he became." -Corai

Following the defeat of the White Dragons, dissent against Abberon was at its zenith.   Despite nearly the entire empire hating him though, Abberon's downfall came from an unlikely place, his own Husband and High Marshal, Corai. After leaving court one day, Abberon was greeted with a knife to the chest by his own husband.   Corai quickly reversed some of his husbands policies, but not all of them. Slavery was still legal, White Dragons were still subject to a bounty, and so on. The biggest reversal Corai did was reinstate the Girel.   Despite his initial popularity though Corai soon proved to be a weak ruler as matters of state and infrastructure were left unattended. Instead Corai spent his time wishing to be in the field against an enemy, as he was a ever a warrior.   To sate his hunger for war he renewed campaigns against the savage Norsemen of the North, the Gir'An. He also sent out smaller armies off to distant lands and continents to form colonies, though most records of these colonies are long lost.   After growing bored of fighting a guerrilla war with the Gir'An and his foreign conquests bringing him no joy Corai decided to come up with his worst possible idea to regain favor with his people.
