The Aurelian Coup

"They're in the palace? How did they get in the palace? What is happening? Has anyone seen Zel? We need to get to the catacombs." - The last words heard from King Yvor Stellings by servants as the coup was underway. He and the rest of the Stellings family would be cornered on their way to the escape route, and murdered.

Aurelia is notable for being one of the few non-Fallen City Kingdoms to hold real sway over the region they inhabit. The Stellings family, having ruled it since the Torva were ousted from power, were themselves ousted from power by the rival Virti family in a violent and sudden coup in the capital of Avolen.   The entire Stellings family was thought lost in the coup, and the kingdom became ruled by the Virti family, a rather unsuccessful political family, for a little over two decades until the Aurelian Civil War.
