The Shir'Kreen are a humanoid insectoid species from the planet Verces. They look very much like humanoid locusts with antennae and large compound eyes. Their bodies are covered in hard exoskeletons, which they shed periodically throughout their lives. Shir'Kreen are known for their telepathic abilities, which they use to communicate with each other and other telepathic beings. Their language is heavily influenced by pheromones, and they use scent to convey emotions and ideas.
Shir'Kreen society is highly communal, and they have a strong sense of empathy and cooperation. They form close bonds with those they consider part of their "hive," whether it be their family, friends, or colleagues. They are also highly intelligent and value knowledge and learning. Many Shir'Kreen become scholars, scientists, and researchers, and they are highly respected in the scientific community for their analytical abilities.
Despite their communal nature, Shir'Kreen can also be fiercely independent and value personal freedom. They are highly respected in the business world for their shrewdness and negotiating skills. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of yourself as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You discern colors in that darkness only as shades of gray.

Thri-kreen Telepathy
Without the assistance of magic, you can’t speak the non-thri-kreen languages you know. Instead you use telepathy to convey your thoughts. You have the magical ability to transmit your thoughts mentally to willing creatures within 120 feet of yourself. A contacted creature doesn’t need to share a language with you to understand your thoughts, but it must be able to understand at least one language. Your telepathic link to a creature is broken if you and the creature move more than 120 feet apart, if either of you is incapacitated, or if either of you mentally breaks the contact (no action required).
