Auroran
Born from the plasmic skies of the Colored Rooms of Meridia: Daedric Prince of Light, are a daedric race of living light bound in golden armor. Auroroans are the powerful enforcers of Meridian Law. These pious knights are unshakable in their faith and their adherence to their moral code. Although their oath is one of charity, chivalry, and protection of the weak, they give no quarter to infidels, apostates, or blasphemers. In practice, eventually, this policy includes everyone who has not been cleansed by Meridia's light.
Though they take great pleasure in cleansing the sin from the hearts of the unworthy, they also resent those they make converts to the Holy Fire, for their fervence is artificial, imposed upon their souls, whereas their love for their Mistress is genuine and eternal. Because of this bitterness, they confine these Lustrant mortals to the lower infinities of the Rooms, treating them with contempt when they cross paths.
The Meridian Guard
The highest order of Aurorans who are entrusted direclty with the protection of Meridia's infinite Prismatic Palace as well as Her most important treasures. Unlike their bretherin, whose true nature is hidden behind full armor, the Meridian Guard wear only light arms. Their unbound bodies are free in combat to spread out, change shape, and carry their implements as fast as they can physically move without disintigrating, making them almost unstoppable for mortal foes. The War of the Saints
In eons past, a great schism erupted among the Aurorans. Jyggalag, another Daedric Prince, was marching on all of Oblivion. His power was great enough to bring all of creation into His realm of eternal, undifferentiated stasis. The Prince of Light allied Herself with this Prince of Order, commanding Her armies to march across the darkness to spread Her eternal light over every realm. But not all were willing to follow this Prince into battle. Many Aurorans feared that the Prince of Order would betray them, converting them into His servants like so many others who fell to His army already. Meridia did not heed these warnings. When She opened a gateway to the ever-expanding realm of Jygglag, one of Her Meridian Guardsmen halted Her, a sizable portion of Her army in tow. The guardsman, who is today remembered as Saint Cazme the Golden was prepared to face true annihilation at the hands of her creator, rather than allow Her to aid in the conquest of reality. Cazme's blasphemy could not go unchallenged. The civil war that ensued lasted centuries, but ultimately the Prince prevailed. The traitorous Aurorans were cursed, their bodies of light forced into prisons of flesh in the vein of mortal weakness. They became a distinct race, eternally bound to the flesh, even cursed with the vanity of sexual dimorphism. They were named Aureal, the Subdued Light, and were confined to the lowest strata of the Colored Rooms' infinite domain to wait out the war. When Meridia's loyal Aurorans finally made it to Jygglag's realm, they found it had been twisted into a spiralling realm of bubbling insanity, infested by lower creatures. Its population, the Knights and Priests of Order, had been reduced to sobbing or jibbering invalids. The Prince of Light followed the madness to the center of the realm, where Jygglag knelt, frail and naked, in a meadow surrounded by fluttering insects. In Her absense, the other Daedric Princes had banded together to stop the Graymarch. Somehow, they had cursed the Prince of Order with madness, transforming Him into Sheogorath. Still, Meridia trusted that Her power could turn the tide once more. She bowed to Lord Sheogorath, apologizing for Her lateness. She offered to cleanse the madness from His soul using Her light, and pledged Her Aurorans to His cause. Sheograth looked upon the Prince of Infinite Energies, and smiled. He accepted Her pledge, but not Her offer. Meridia and Her army were cast violently back into the Colored Rooms. The portal between their realms was shuttered. Then, the whole infinite realm was engulfed in a hurrication which tore Her domain asunder. Only once it had cleared, did the Prince realize that the traitor army had been taken in the storm. Furious at the cost of this betrayal, Meridia no longer trusted in the strength of Her Aurorans' devotion. From that moment on, She took a direct interest in the realm of mortals, seeking acolytes who could be molded into the perfect devotees by filling them with Her light. Sheogorath chose an army of malcontents over getting cured of his affliction. On impulse, He gathered the Aureals before Him, informing them that Meridia had sworn them to His service on their behalf. When Cazme objected, She was turned into a grapefruit. Seeing no alternative, the cursed legion pledged themselves to the service of this new Prince of Madness. Their first order was to chase down butterflies for him to torture. The Golden Saints
Auriels today form half of the army of the Shivering Isles. Having spent several thousand years doing nothing but chasing butterflies, they have grown quite mad in their own right. They have come to venerate their new Prince as much as they ever did their creator. They protect the lands of Mania with utmost seriousness and overt displays of their devotion. Their culture is highly organized, yet unstable. They hold numerous, ever-shifting ranks, and have a clear matriarchal power structure. They have come to be known as the Golden Saints by mortals who often interpret their appearance as angelic. They maintain a fierce rivalry with their counterparts in Dementia, another race of largely female daedra called the Dark Seducers by mortals.Naming Traditions

Ideals
Gender Ideals
Aurorans typically have neither sex nor gender, inhabiting suits of armor made for numerous body types and plans, with only a few notable exceptions having a specific preference for a certain presentation. Most are generally humanoid and masculine in appearance.
Aureals were cursed by their creator to have innate sexual dimorphism in mocking immitation of mortal bodies. The majority of Aureals have a female appearance. Over the eons of exposure to the madness of the Isles, Meridia's curse has weakened considerably, and Aureals who truly wish to change their appearance can do so when they reform after corporeal death. However, the side effects can be very unpredictable.
