Aeterna City

The mechanical marvel of the Aeterna Archipelago, Aeterna City was built with the sheer power of Lightning magic and clockwork.

Demographics

Of course, with the region's intense electrical focus, many of the city's inhabitants are Voltens, but Talos and Avians are also common citizens of the city.

Industry & Trade

Despite the strong involvement of Lightning magic in this city's workings, Aeterna seldom exports its electrical appliances, due to their requirements of a constant supply of voltaic magic. They do, however, create and sell machinations that work on pure mechanical force, such as clockwork watches or wind engines. Within the city itself, many people work as metallurgists or electricians, servicing the various contraptions that power the city.

Infrastructure

A defining feature of the city is the collection of massive gears that are scattered around the area. These gears facilitate and relay rotational force across the settlement, powering elevators. lights, and the city's sewage system.

Assets

The government of Aeterna owns several powerful engines that run on both mechanical and elemental energy, all of which devote their power to running the city and its machinations. In addition, several mines that supply copper, zinc, iron, and fulminite feed directly into the city's stores.

Points of interest

Aeterna's biggest attraction is the massive clock tower that rests at the center of the city. This clock both functions as a control center for the rotational speed of many gears and generators around the city, and as a national monument. Many citizens consider this clock tower the pride of Aeterna.

Somewhat south of the clock tower lies the Aeterna City Square, an open public area. Many citizens of the settlement enjoy visiting the square and spending time there. Businesses have capitalized upon this fact, leading to a wealth of restaurants and stores lining the square's perimeter.

Architecture

Aeterna is commonly characterized by a very steampunk-like aesthetic going on, with buildings rendered in the golden-brown hues of brass, and expansive networks of pipes and gears running through the city. Most structures have large windows with sloped roofs and intricately patterned walls.
