Basic Information

Anatomy

Werelions possess three forms.The first is the humanoid form which is indistinguishable from a Human to the naked eye, although they still possess superhuman abilities. They may choose to allow their true eyes to show when in this form. 
In the hybrid form, a werelion's claws are visible and their skin takes on a golden hue. Their face becomes more animalistic, with fangs, increased hair growth, and glowing eyes. In humanoid form, their skin will appear tanned if they are naturally lighter skinned, or appear to have a golden or orange warm undertone if they are darker skinned. In the hybrid form, a Werelion's skin is gold and faitly reflective, creating a similar effect to woven silk. On darker-skinned individuals, this appears as a golden sheen to their skin, rather than their skin getting paler when shifted.
The lion form of a Werelion is distinguishable from a normal lion only in that they tend to be much bigger.

Biological Traits

Male Werelions are generally larger than females and are able to grow facial hair. Female Werelions are able to produce milk from their breasts and are the ones that give birth. Werelions are forced to change into their lion or hybrid form when exposed to moonlight, but experienced Werelions are able to change into cat form at will. Werelions are also able to rapidly heal wounds as long as it wasn't made from using silver.

Genetics and Reproduction

Werelions can reproduce sexually. If both parents are Werelions, the offspring will almost always be a Werelion. Like other Shifters, Werelions can also interbreed with many other supernatural creatures, in which case the offspring may take after either parent, and rare cases may display characteristics of both.
Like other Shifters, they can also reproduce by biting humans, but only female werelions possess this ability. This is believed to be due to werelion prides being primarily matriarchal.

Growth Rate & Stages

Werelionesses are typically known to bear one to two cubs. Such cubs are born in their hybrid state, though would appear human if born to a human mother. 
They mature at a faster rate than Humans, crawling within days and walking within a month. At age 6 they are capable of transforming into a fully humanoid form and at age 12 gained access to their full-lion forms.

Ecology and Habitats

Werelions live in a variety of habitats but prefer grassland, savanna, dense scrub, and open woodland.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Werelions in their humanoid and hybrid form are omnivores that procure their food by hunting and gathering for it. Werelions in their lion form are carnivores and obtain their food by hunting, their prey can include other races.

Biological Cycle

As time progresses Werelions age, eventually their bodies will reach a point where they can no longer sustain themselves and will eventually die. However, they live much longer lives than some other races such as Humans.

Behaviour

Werelions are often known to be arrogant perfectionists. Out of all lycanthropes, they are considered the most powerful race in therms of strenghts, being able to equally well fight of humans and monsters. They also were generally disinterested in spreading their curse, for they viewed the propagation of Werelions as the creation of more competition for territory and prey.

Social Structure

Like true lions, werelions form Prides. These prides are most often family groups, but may be constructed prides made up of bitten individuals or nomadic lions.
Werelions without a pack, usually called nomadic lions, are common, especially among older teenagers, and it is normal for older teens to leave their pride of origin and spend several years as a nomad, either alone or with a single travelling companion (often a sibling or cousin of similar age), before joining a new pride.
Werelion prides are matriarchal, but usually do not have a strict heirarchy, with the older women in the pride acting as a kind of governing council.

Facial characteristics

Werelion eyes refract light in a way that makes them appear to glow orange, although like other shifters, they can control this if they choose to.
When in hybrid form, their hair will grow to around shoulder-length, forming a mane, and will not return to its original length when returning to humanoid form. As a result, Werelions tend to wear their hair long, to avoid having to cut it again after every shift.

Average Intelligence

Werelions in their humanoid and hybrid form have a high level of intelligence and are known to be one of the more intelligent races found on Nomardia. Werelions in their lion form, are less intelligent and are mainly driven by their instincts, especially during a full moon, however, more experienced Werelions are able to control these base instincts except for during a full moon.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

They have enhanced hearing and sense of smell, and possess sharper eyesight than most humans, although their colour vision is somewhat limited compared to humans.

Werelion prides are often semi-nomadic, and do not maintain strict territory boundaries, meaning they meet and interact with members of the other supernatural species fairly freqently. Compared to other Shifters, especially Werewolves, it is much more common for Werelion prides to include Humans or other species.

The average female Werelion height in humanoid form is 1.7‒2 m) and the average male Werelion height in humanoid form is 1.7‒2.1 m. The average female Werelion height in hybrid form is 2.3m and the average male Werelion height in hybrid form is 2.4m. The average female Werelion height in lion form is 3.5m and the average male Werelion height in lion form is 4m.

Average Weight

The average female Werelion weight in humanoid form is 40‒111 kg and the average male Werelion weight in humanoid form is 56.2‒130 kg. The average female Werelion weight in hybrid form is 252‒293 kg and the average male Werelion height in hybrid form is 270‒310 kg. The average female Werelion weight in lion form is 375‒435 kg and the average male Werelion height in lion form is 395‒465 kg.

Average Physique

The average Werelion physique in humanoid form is lean and slightly muscular. However, their physique can vary from being fatter, thinner and/or muscular. Werelions in hybrid and lion form are very muscular with long limbs.

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking

Werelion skin colour ranges from pale to dark brown, Wereclion hair colour ranges from red, blond, brown, white, grey and black. A Werelion fur colour in lion form matches their hair colour in humanoid form.
