Session 1: Following up on the Griffon Family Jewelry Report
General Summary
Getting Wheatley to talk about where she got the clasp was not a difficult task. A set of new clothes, and a good meal along with some gold got the story flowing out of her. She said that she had been making trips to the village of Blord, looking for things she could sell. The Village is rumored to be under a curse so she does spend a lot of time there. Just a quick look around. This time was different. She found the body of a robed figure lying in the road close to the city entrance. He didn't have much on on him, but Wheatly took what he did, and one of those things was the Baldric Clasp that has the Griffon Family coat of arms on it. She said that she didn't have time to search more as she saw a zombie and she decided it best to leave while she could, as something had killed the man.
The party decided they needed to go to Blord to find out more. They gathered their supplies and left for the village. The trip took them through Eastjaw Wetlands and they found a small way-station to rest in. While there though Aurelia Midwynter saw a light coming from the swamp. She took a closer look and a strangle tree tried to grab her and force her into the water. She managed to get our while the rest of the party came to her aid. Her struggle must have released a previous victim as a body floated up to the surface of the water. It was dressed in traveling gear and armed. It also had some potions and a glowing amulet.
Aurelia took the amulet and tried it on, and suddenly saw the image of a large glowing city north in the swamp. The figured out that it was the amulet that allowed them see the city, as they passed it from one to another. The city was too far out into the swamp for the party to explore at the time though, and they decided to move on and find out more about he city later.
The group continued on into the Eastcheek Woods and got to the crossroads, where the old Blord road turned off. An old guard post, stood there, but was little more than a ruin now. The party took a few minutes to check it out and found a cache of item there along with Goblins tracks, that were fairly fresh. Knowing goblins might be ahead they carried on cautiously and were reward for their forethought when they ran into a goblin ambush. The first attack was devastating to the goblins as they did more damage to each other than they did the party. The battle didn't last long, and the party came away victors with only some minor cuts and bruises.
Leaving the goblin bodies behind, the party continued to Blord. The found the town as they expected. Abandoned and in disrepair. Lying in the main road was the body Weatley had told them about, It was covered by ravens when they arrived but the birds took flight as they approached. They examined the corpse but it had little on it, having been already looted. That was when then noticed figures moving behind the houses. Figures that did not look alive.
