Das Konigreich
The Kingdom
In the early days of the Risen, a large number of Humans migrated from La Patria to the offshoot of land now known as Das Konigreich. The old land bore a number of hostile Magickal Beasts, but the soil was fertile and the weather warm and forgiving. That was until Rufio , the Stormbird, first forgot the land and let the droughts begin. Rufio is a whimsical god whose dealings of the weather swung just as wildly as his emotions did. Whereas most nations and people would offer prayer and sacrifice to him in an effort to earn his favor and a blessing of good weather, the settlers of Das Konigreich condemned the god; accusing him of being too careless and forsaking the Risen of the world for his own fancies. Correct as they may have been, until that point Risen did not dare speak against the gods. Jerun , having a close relationship with his cousin, joined him in his s demands for recompense. The people of Das Konigreich refused to yield and continued there feud with the gods. Rufio and Jerun cursed the land, the God of Storms ravaging the land with his thunderous fury while the God of the Ocean battered the coasts with a torrent of waves and flooding. This was the creation of the Göttsturms that plague the land to this day. Even now, the country's residents remain strong in their conflict with the gods. If anything, they have become planted even more firmly in their beliefs. The Reichers have become a hardy, resolute people that have proven themselves by surviving amidst their conditions. Though mostly comprised of humans, there remains a fair number of Ohrlen and Dwehrlen amongst the populace. Cities and towns have been established wherever they deemed suitable enough to weather the storms and bouts of Magickal Beasts that roam the area. The Risen were not the only ones to adapt to the Göttsturms; the Magickal Beasts that live in the country have evolved throughout the centuries as well. From the swift Thunder Rocs to the dreaded Kaiser Drakes, most living creatures here have been deemed to be a deadly threat. Life here is difficult, however, the Risen that call Das Konigreich their home have still managed to carve out a meaningful existence for themselves.Life in Das Konigreich
Almost the entire population of Das Konigreich is located within the thick walls of it's cities as it simply isn't safe to live beyond their boundaries. Despite this, life in the cities isn't as bleak as it seems to outsiders. Generations of strugglers have created a tight bond amongst the people, and all pitch in to care for one another. Everyone has their role to play, and everyone plays it well. There is a defined monarchy that divides the royalty of the Franz bloodline from the common people, yet views of King Franz are favorable and have been for quite some time. Each generation of the Franz monarchy has been described as strict and at times ruthless, yet has not been afraid to get their own hands dirty on the frontlines. The people admit that their leader needs to be hard if they are going to survive the life that the their predecessors and the gods have set upon them. Monster Hunters are considered a vital profession throughout most of Nora where every border town that can afford one will do their best to acquire one. In Das Konigreich, however, this is a staple profession where every founded city has a militia of hunters at their disposal. Farming is nearly impossible outside city walls due to the landscape and is often reserved for the wealthy and affluent. Reichers live off of a primarily carnivorous diet based off of the Magickal Beasts and few mundane animals that roam within their borders. Outside of hunting for food, there is a large variety of Magickal Beasts that pose a serious threat to any Risen settlements and they must be dealt with extreme prejudice if the cities are to continue surviving.Royal Family
