Gnomes

There are no known gnomes alive today anywhere in the Known World. By all accounts, the god of the gnomes had directed all surviving gnomes to return to their ancient homeland. When the Lich Queen's armies arrived at their border, she demanded their surrender. Their refusal contained several insults which greatly angered the Lich Queen, and she lashed out, killing the last of the gnomes. Some say that she killed the gnome god himself, but most scholars believe that he simply has no reason to make his existence known, since no gnomes live on Norath anymore.
According to ancient texts, gnomes were about half the size of Humans, with similar proportions, except for their pointed ears and somewhat larger noses. Gnomish culture was known for its reverence of knowledge and intricate craftsmanship. Some surviving texts also state that the greatest masters of illusion magic were all gnomes.
The location of the ruined homeland of the gnomes is unknown. Most modern sources claim that it bordered the Great Ocean, while a few dissenting scholars claim it shared a coast on the Solaran Sea.

RPG Campaign Note

If you want to play a gnome as a player character, special permission will be needed from the DM. It is DM's intention that gnomes be extinct, but he is willing to be persuaded, if you have a good backstory to explain it.
