Fireisles

The fireisle are a vast archipelago consisting of many island, small and large.
Most of the inhabitants of the fireisles are pirates - benefiting from the trade between Gharlarad and Ikan. There is no determinable government of any kind for the region. Some individuals manage to established an area of influence, before a (usually violent) uprising dissolves the seedling of order.
The fireisle are free - in every aspect. This melting pot of outcast and minorities welcomes everyone with open arms - before they try to steal your wallet. Yet this is the only place some individuals manage to life a life free from oppression and discrimination.
