Lafat Family
The Lafats are by far the richest family of Gharlarad. While having no inherit claim to power or any titles, they still manage to control vast swaths of the land. Due to ruthless and often illegal actions they managed to consolidate large amounts of power and out compete any opposition. While still mostly acting from the background, they grow hungry for power.
Their seat of power for is Lafat's Emporium, a gold gilded opulent house of trade in the middle of the Isle of the Merchants of Barad.
They are no hard evidence tying the Lafats to the events of the Battle of Barad, yet it is to be assumed that they played a major role in orchestrating or at least abiding the failed coup.
