House Arasco
What’s the price of a life? Well, I’ve got a rate sheet right over here. I’d be happy to discuss it.
House Arasco is an originally-halfling dragonmarked house (though in present days many races are well-represented) operating throughout Khorvaire. House Arasco possesses the Mark of Healing. This mark grants various magical benefits that allow its bearers to heal and cure diseases. This makes Arasco a vital part of the struggles of the Last War and throughout Khorvaire in general. The Healers Guild is the premiere service of House Arasco. The guild runs schools that teach medicine, as well as houses of healing that provide both mundane and magical services. If it could save a life, it’s probably marked by the House Arasco griffon emblem, and it will come with a cost. If you have the gold, Arasco healers can remove a disease instantly with lesser restoration. If you can’t afford such a service, they will treat you with mundane techniques. House Arasco is also the source of potions of healing. While many criticize Arasco’s demands for payment, the house maintains that it’s not about greed; it’s about ensuring the prosperity of the house, so they can continue to help future generations. Members of the guild include herbalists, alchemists, physicians, as well as some clerics and adepts of the Church of the Shattered Sky. Few seek healing from the church (even if they are willing to pay) and only the most devout or well respected within the religion will usually receive healing.
Open Mutual Support
While not all agents of House Arasco actively subscribe to the Church ideology, the two organizations at large express open support for one another, and those who dissent in either direction are typically quiet about such. House Arasco's healing services being offered through the Church contribute to a substantial part of the Church's funding.
