Ouachita-class corvette

The Ouachita-class corvette is a class of subline ships in service with the Union Naval Department. Straddling the line between a proper corvette and a frigate, these larger vessels are not intended to engage enemies directly, but instead provide a screen against incoming missiles and torpedoes.

Propulsion

The Ouachita class mounts a modified drive system in which more thrust is diverted to the maneuvering thrusters, rather than the main exhaust bells. This results in a lower linear acceleration, but makes the Ouachita class highly nimble, able to perform high-g transitions at the rate of vessels half its size.

Armor and defense

The Ouachita class mounts one 23-cell VLS with a mixture of chaff and interceptor missiles, and two point-defense lasers.

Additional & auxiliary systems

The Ouachita class mounts a signature booster, to make it appear as a larger target. Coupled with the class' signature scrambler, this makes these ships highly attractive to inbound missiles.
