General Massive Systems
General Massive Systems (GMS for short) is one of the oldest corporations in Union. Manufacturers of everything from heavy equipment to coffee-makers to casual clothing, GMS sets the galactic standard for products. GMS is also the flagship operation of Union's economic project, and several Union Economic Bureau department heads sit directly on the board of directors of GMS to ensure that remains the case. In this way, GMS is a quasi-state and quasi-corporate entity at the same time.
History
GMS was established under the First Committee, making it one of the oldest corporations to still exist. During the First Expansion period, GMS designed most of the equipment and ships for Union's colonial projects, including the hardsuits that pilots would later modify during the Hercynian Genocide (4500-4560u). In the fallout of the crisis that followed, GMS engineers quietly collected the data from Hercynia and designed, then standardized, the first mechanized chassis, eventually developing the universally-recognized Everest frame.
