North of the Kashin Baya, the mists of Maka-Tho receed. Word quickly spreads from the Grey Sea into Calda, reaching the ears of the Sable Queen within weeks.   People are hesitant to explore the area revealed by the departure of the mists. They have been an immovable barrier for so long, most fear they will soon return -- killing or trapping any in the region.

Nobody is sure why the mists receeded.   Were the mists created by an old devicethat finally failed or lost power? Did an explorer manage to surive the mist somehow, and learned how to remove the mists? Or was someone (or something) responsible -- and why have they parted the mists?   Nearly every person had a different reason the mists are gone. The one thing they all share was the fear that the mists would return. Some even worried that when they returned they would spread, covering all of Calda in pink death.
