After a five year war, the city of Rumah conquers its two closest neighbours. The Sable Queen declares this to be the start of the Sable Hegemony, which will last for all time.
An expedition is sent to map the Grey Sea. At the northern end, past the end of the Grey Sea, they discover the now infamous "Maka-Tho Mists". Many attempts are made over the centuries to pass through the mists, but none appear to be successful. No word or signal is received from those that venture into the mists.
An explorer discovers the Singhan Roots, which allow travel to a number of terminals spread throughout Calda. Using this technology, the Sable Queen is able to extend the reach of the Hegemony until it covers an area almost as large as the Steadfast.
Known as the "Era of Expansion", the Sable Hegemony grows and expands its borders. Many towns join the Hegemony willingly, not that they really had a choice. Some still put up a fight, although all were defeated in the end. The well trained Royal Army and the Singhan Roots gave the Hegemony an incredible advantage. Eventually, every city with or near the Singhan Roots was part of the Hegemony. While there are kingdoms to the south and east that lay unconquered, no path through the Singhan Roots led to a terminal within those kingdoms. Unwilling to part with the great advantage given to them by the Roots, the Queen eventually ordered the army to stop expanding and consolidate the borders of their empire. Now, with the Undying War over with the signing of the truce, Calda mostly knows peace. The scattered villages still must deal with the hardships imposed upon them by the land, but life is stable for the citizens of the Hegemony.
The outriders of the Voz Dynasty begin raiding villages in Eastern Calda. In response, the Queen sends several companies of the Royal Army to drive off the invaders. These border skirmishes errupt into a war that blankets the region for centuries. Over time, as numenera are used the land is completly destroyed. Areas where no life can grow or survive, pockets of instability where the rules of physics are weak or compltely broken, towns where time is frozen. Eventually, the Sable Hegemony and the Voz Dynasty sign a truce. The truce names the war-torn region as "No-Man's Land", an area neither side will allow their armies to enter.
A group of Aeon Priests sent to explore a ruin in the Beyond find themselves transported to Calda, with no apparent way home. Far from the Steadfast, they start spreading the language of the Steadfast, which slowly becomes a trade language in use by many within Calda. Their numbers grow slowly, as there are some conflicts with the "religion" of the Order of Truth and the ancestor and spirit worship common to many towns and villages in Calda.
North of the Kashin Baya, the mists of Maka-Tho receed. Word quickly spreads from the Grey Sea into Calda, reaching the ears of the Sable Queen within weeks. People are hesitant to explore the area revealed by the departure of the mists. They have been an immovable barrier for so long, most fear they will soon return -- killing or trapping any in the region.
Drawn back to Calda, Ager learns of the disappearance of the mists of Maka-Tho. He travels to the capital, and beseaches the Sable Queen to allow him to raise an expedition. The Queen granted his request, and after the Iron Winds and the month of Baelwind passed Ager set out with a scout company of the Royal Army.
Fourteen months after leaving the capital, the expedition returns -- at half strength. To many, their return is a sign that the lands of Maka-Tho are as dangerous as the mists that protected them. To the more clever and those that paid attention, they saw something different. They saw that half of the expedition had returned from a land that nobody in recorded history had returned from. Maka-Tho was open, and who knows what power lay within those lands?
After one hundred and twenty three years, Ager goes onto the next big adventure. A life of exploration and grand undertakings, Ager left his mark on the world. He died peacefully in his bed, surrounded by friends and family. Pamki and the town declare the day to be a feastival day.
