Heroes Reach

Heroes Reach is the northernmost settelement of the civlized races in the Northern Kingdoms. Situated on the coast of the North Sea, on the nortwestern extreme of Apenrike, Heroes Reach was founded by exiles from kingdoms to the south. Inhabited by a hardy breed of mannish mariners, Heroes Reach is the hard-to-reach home of the legendary Jomsvikings. Ruled as a military dictatorship, Heroes Reach serves as a sanctuary for the Jomsvikings raiders and a seat of power for their king. The town is sustained by the wealth both traded and raided from the southern kingdoms. And although the Jomsvikings have been known to appear in some Greek cities far to the south, they spend most of their raiding efforts on the Coringian Empire and the League of Maritime Cities. The Jomsvikings have been hired out as mercenaries, often by one of the members of the League, to raid the Empire, or to damage a fellow League member without the aggressor being revealed. The King of Heroes Reach, is also the leader of the Jomsvikings, and is one of the Sea Kings of the North.  The current king is Fengris Odinson, who adopted the surname of Odinson when he was crowned King of the Reach, in the tradition of his predeccesors and signifying that he is a descendent of the Allfather himself.  He is more commonly known as Fengris the Keg.  Whether this name is a reference to his round physique, or to his rather impressive daily intake of ale in unknown.
