Minnie Stone
Owner and proprietor of The Lamplight Inn, Minnie Stone inherited the Crackclaw local from her Pa, Cadager Stone. More welcoming of halflings than some of her compatriots, she doesn't tend to believe there's any Great Hobbit Conspiracy to take over the Portavian Quarter with pooled funds for real estate purchases; she just observes that her people are all broke and Chelsea is packed to the gills and doing great business.
The Lamplight, however, is not. Cadager made the poor decision to get involved with the Frasca family in matters of money, and as a result an operating loan of 2,400g has somehow metamorphosed into an unlimited standing obligation to turn over most of the Inn's profits in interest payments. The family does not concern itself with daily operations, but it does refuse to permit Minnie to break into their profit margins by hiring staff... or sleeping more than four hours a night.
Relationship with the Ladies' Hiking Club
Minnie offered the attic apartment to The Ladies' Hiking Club when they first defected over from The Scarlet Squid Public House on their first night in the Wandering City. They stayed there for a few days, performing alternately to great renown and great disappointment. Charity Milkbath / Cherry Merrybottom did the best she could to salvage Beulah's bomb nights and Minnie's cooking; and Vega Spritzer invoked her goddess from time to time to supply the shortfall of groceries when Beulah's performances actually prompted a hungry capacity crowd. All in all, things were getting friendly -- and profitable! The Club noticed after a few days of performances that the strongbox in the utility closet was flush with gold: at least a thousand pieces, all told. On 22nd Winterfall, after the Ambush at Commissioner's Hall, the heroes realized their protection glyph, applied to a gnome of unknown provenance with a number of explosive vials on his person, had blown the roof off the third-storey hallway and damaged the door. All told, they concluded there was entirely too much heat at the Inn and Beulah Garland had drawn so much attention that this saboteur knew exactly where to find them. If it weren't for Vega Spritzer's foresight, they might all have been killed even after escaping from their first assassination attempt of the evening. As they packed their things and headed out, the Club intended to leave some cash behind but noticed that her generously packed strongbox was gone. And, judging from the number of degenerates pouring their own drinks, so was Minnie. Beulah tried Sending to Minnie the following day, but she was so unaccustomed to magic and unfamiliar with the concept of telepathic communication that her reply was effectively a butt-dial. She seems to be alive and well. Paying off the Frascas? Hiring a hitman to knock them off? On the lam with her fresh-start money? Just out shopping or retaining the services of a thatcher? Who can say?
