The Scarlet Squid Public House

A modestly appointed but sizable establishment in Rightfin, Wandering City, The Scarlet Squid features a short bar, a triangular performance space and a sizable and unadorned floor capable of accommodating the large number of public events and receptions it hosts as the sole full-service pub in Rightfin. It has a second-storey “ring” of rooms for rent, and one luxury suite (generously defined) on each side. There is also third-floor attic access to the second floor of those suites.
Operated but not owned by barkeep Cerillio Carrino, the pub features adequate fried foods and snacks and affordable beer brought on in bulk from the mainland.

Tribulations with Thalia Overmere

Sometime prior to spring of 866WA, Thalia Overmere took up residence in the Squid’s south suite along with six of her most trusted guards. The disruptions were immediate as the royal’s tantrums, often over clothes and money, were audible and disconcerting. The guards were also not conducive to a celebratory atmosphere. Still, she is an illustrious guest and her account is not yet in arrears.
Carrino confided in Clytemnestra "Fanny" Glitters, who he views as a fellow-traveler in the socialist cause, that he cannot wait for her and her retinue to leave; and that he has heard that she is skint to the point of being forced to marry precipitously down, settling for Baronet Beauregard Benne: the second son of an up-jumped merchant proudly waving his pity title around the Shell.

17th Winterfall Musical Event

Quite unexpectedly, the house harpist was usurped on the 17th of Winterfall, 866WA first by Cherry Merrybottom‘s remarkable reworking of the penultimate aria in The Sack of Gosmerley (“The Back of Hors-erley”), which drew wild applause and solicitations of her talent, and then by cult legend Beulah Garland‘s shocking return to the stage. The bar filled out with the hardest of hardcore working-class music nerds who were positively enraptured by her performance and her duet with Cherry afterwards. The performance was unfortunately soured by Ms. Merrybottom being accosted by one of the Overmere guards after the concert.

Theft Scandal

Later that same night, it was discovered that during that enrapturing distraction, a strongbox containing virtually everything of irreplaceable value— even things that had not originally been stored in the box— had been stolen from the Royal suite. The current suspects are an overweight bank manager and his possible associate, a singing Halfling with red hair.
