Guardian Force
The Guardian Force is the Protectorate's primary military backbone, comprised of hundreds of thousands of men and women sworn to fight for the Twelve Cities of Mankind. Each has specialized training on how to fight with various types of melee weapons and firearms outfitted with advanced technology. One of these is the famed "battlesuit" that is in fact standard equipment for every soldier within the Protectorate military. Each suit can be equipped with various weapons and attachments for attack and defense while protected with energy shields. To many from the Outlands, these guardians are often mistaken for some strange construct and even nicknamed "metal men" for those who do not know the truth.
Composition
Equipment
The most crucial piece of equipment for any guardian is the assault class battlesuit powered by an ornikyte power crystal giving it rechargeable light energy shields that can allow the wearer to shake off several direct attacks and give them just enough time to escape. Each suit also comes with a set of jump thrusters on its back allowing the wearer to jump nearly thirty feet and glide down from high distances. The helmet also allows the wearer to see in the dead of night and can identify power-enabled individuals from those with no powers. High-ranking officers and generals are known to have enhanced armor with increased power and are warded by omnipaths from across the Protectorate.
Weaponry
Members of the Guardian Force are trained to use a large variety of firearms and projectile weapons such as pistols, shotguns, and rifles that fire anything from bullets to even energy pulses as well as cannons for long-range combat. For close range, soldiers are still trained to fight with melee weapons such as swords and knives laced with superheated plasma to cut through most armor. At the same time, they may come equipped with pulse shields that vary in size and fend off attacks from both mundane and magical weapons alike. Some warriors, especially trained are equipped with weapons that are enhanced by powerful omnipaths to make them more powerful. In cases of emergency, an arm blade can extend from the armor's vambrace giving them one last weapon to fight with if need be.
Training
They begin their training by learning how to fight in hand-to-hand combat first before moving on to weapons training for anything from swords and shields to even firearms. Aftward they then begin suit training and learning how to move and fight in every way they did without the armor. This entire training process that each member goes through takes up to ten weeks at a time.
Logistics
Recruitment
A vast majority of recruits are human though it is not unheard of for some to be from other species or even hybrids. They come from all of the Twelve Cities and are chosen from any number of social classes from poor class, middle class, and high class alike. Many people from the Outlands also enlist in the Guardian Force as a way to gain citizenship with Protectorate after one year of service.
