Korostrovia
Geography
Separated from the mainland of Boslandië by wide straits, the island nation of Korostrovia is less densely forested than the rest of the kingdom. Steep mountains, rocky cliffs, and craggy outcroppings frame wetlands and deltas along the many coastal regions of the realm.
The island has a coastline composed of steep cliffs which drop suddenly into the tempestous seas.
Many rocky coves, sheltered bays, and pebble-strewn beaches dot the coastline on the East and North sides of the island, which bear the brunt of the winter storms that buffet the Iron Island.
The West and South sides of the island are home to sandy beaches and calmer waters.
Inland, the landscape transitions to rolling hills, meadows, and forests. Volcanic peaks rise up suddenly, giving the island the feeling of a constant sloping down to the sea.
Ecosystem
Korostrovia has a distinct ecosystem shaped by its maritime climate and varied landscape.
Mostly wildlands, except for the few major cities and towns, as well as the well-travelled highways, Korostrovia has a wild nature. The peoples, plants, and animals of the island live mostly in harmony. Only small portions of the land are given to agriculture, and urban development is limited by the island's small size.
Ecosystem Cycles
The temperate and moderately rainy island has limited changes over the course of the year. In the summer months, the temperatures range from 15°C to 25°, and the island is typically at its driest. Calm sees provide excellent fishing and recreational activity, as well as plenty of trade.
In the winter months, the temperatures range from -5° to 10°C, and snow is common in the more inland parts of the island. The winter brings constant storms and wind to the North and Eastern portions of the island, while the South and West remain more temperate.
Spring and autumn both tend to be mild and rainy, and the coastal regions see a calming of the seas. The temperature typically ranges between 10°C and 20°C.
