Frozen Lander Union

The Union of the peoples of the Frozen Isles, also known as the Frozen Lander Union, is a political and economic union consisting of several clans and city-states of the Frozen Isles. The union was informally established during the Frozen Lander War of Independence, in response to the Aventarle occupation of six of the southern islands.

History

The Frozen Isles know many clans. Throughout history, they have often warred against one another for the most livable land in a place where snow and ice rule most of the year. In some areas, conflict between clans was extremely common, with much bloodshed throughout the year, while in other places the clans lived in an insecure truce and sometimes even lasting peace.
One of the regions with an era of long-lasting peace is the Farnor region in eastern Pallar. For many centuries, a council of clan leaders was gathered when conflict arose, to attempt to resolve it without violence. It was this council that got into contact with the secret council of southern clan elders during the Thirty Years’ War. Together they managed to unite many of the Frozen Lander clans. Not through technological superiority, but simply through ferocity and tenacity, did the Frozen Landers push out the foreign invaders.
After the war, the union was officially established. The union promotes peace amongst the clans and unity to fight foreign threats. While many of the clans still have their own rule of law, an interclan law, the Frozen Lander law, was established based upon human rights, peace and unity.

Members

Currently, the Frozen Lander Union has sixty-four members. Some members represent city-states, such as Mel, while others represent single clans or a group of several small clans from the same region. There are only a few clans that are not part of the union. Some of these clans have formed their own small council, including all the clans of Serrac Island, while a handful of clans are still isolated from the outside world. The latter are protected by the Frozen Lander Union to remain so.
A special member of the union is the Imcri Frozen Islander Administration, an Imcrian federal agency responsible for implementing federal law related to native Frozen Landers in Imcri. These Frozen Landers live on reservations on the Imcrian coast. The Imcri Frozen Islander Administration is a special member in the sense that the Frozen Lander law does not apply to them, however they are included in trade treaties and efforts to preserve the Frozen Lander culture.
