Banshee

A subspecies of humans who possess cthonic psychic powers, allowing them to fortell death.

It is unknown how genetically different they are from humans, but they can interbreed with them, which is necessary to continue the species as all Banshee are female.

Both men and women may carry the Banshee genes without possessing any of the abilities, and it is common for the power to skip one or two generations in a family.
