In February 2011, she was bitten by Peter Hale. He had recognised her as a Banshee, and used her cthonic connection, as well as his knowledge of magic, to place a portion of his own soul in Lydia, so that he would be able to ressurect himself, should he die.
After more than a week in hospital, recovering from the injury, Peter forced Lydia to escape from the hospital, and perform a taurobolium over his grave, which raised his body as a kind of zombie. Then, using the threat of the zombie, combined with his ability to destabilize Lydia's mind, he forced her to perform the ritual to restore him to life, which involved drugging the attendees at her birthday party, and sacrificing Derek Hale's Alpha status to Kybele.
Although she hoped that would be the end of her involvement in the supernatural, the following day, her boyfriend Jackson Whittemore was drowned by Matt Daehler. However, due to the nature of Kanima, although he was declared dead, Jackson actually survived in a coma-like state, which eventually resulted in him mutating into a so-called "Alpha" Kanima.
It was agreed that Lydia should become the new Kanima-Master, due to her emotional connection to Jackson.
Working with Scott McCall and Peter, she solved the puzzle of how to cure Jackson and kill Matt Daehler. Although Scott tried to stop her, Lydia's best friend Allison Argent, who had previously agreed that she would not prevent Lydia from getting revenge on Daehler, stopped him from interfering, and Lydia succeeded in killing him, and restoring Jackson.
When the cured Jackson was revealed to be a Werelion, Lydia, along with Jackson's best friend Danny Māhealani, formed the Martin Pride.
