Zenko
Zenko are one of the two classifications of Kitsune, most often referred to as Holy Kitsune (to distinguish them from the malicious Yako, or Bad Kitsune).
Despite the name 'Holy Kitsune', Zenko are still tricksters, and delight in tricking or outwitting people, but their tricks are usually harmless, or aimed at those they consider to be hurting others.
There are four subtypes of Zenko, divided by their colour:
- Byakko, or White Foxes, possess the ability to astrally project and observe events happening at a distance. They can also access the divine realm without first attaining the rank of Tenko
- Ginko, or Silver Foxes, possess the ability to create cold and ice
- Kinko, or Golden Foxes, sometimes called Thunder Foxes, possess the ability to generate and absorb electricity.
- Kokuko, or Black Foxes, possess the ability to control light, allowing them to create shadows to hide in, or light to illuminate dark places
In addition to the the abilities granted by their subtype, all Zenko possess the more general kitsune abilities to create foxfire, limited immortality, enhanced speed and agility, shapeshifting, accelerated healing, and the ability to summon Oni from the spirit realm.
