Apshai

Overview

Large arthropods resembling a cross between a mantis and an earwig. Apshai armor themselves in the bones of other creatures, such as muhuru and emela-ntouka, with a special adhesive webbing extruded from their mouths. Their tails are remarkably strong, allowing them to pierce through armor and lift objects several times their size. Apshai are largely scavengers, but they primarily lay their eggs in locations like necropoli or elephant graveyards, where the young can find a ready source of bones to armor themselves.
