The Underworld
The Underworld is considered the hollow area inside Wyndelkynd as well as the roof which is considered the surface of The Underworld. There is a unique, bizarre and fragile ecosystem present in the cave systems of the surface, which is essential for powering the ancient technology hidden in the detritus layer between the two crusts, maintaining the structural integrity of the planet. Dark sections on the map above represent the distorted regions where hills and mountains formed whereas light represents basics, valleys and expanses which are either sloped or more or less smooth. Notice they tend to occur around where the continents formed on the outer crust. The white dot represents the only entrance that existed before Wyndelkyndians dug more.
The power source of detritus technology happens to be the byproduct of magic. This has lead to hypothetical proposals by some economists that Aklaerosine should be pumped from our skies in the overworld to replace the functionality of the local ecosystem. Seeing as none of these creatures are edible to Wyndelkyndians they are not depended upon as a food source, it would be very easy to drive them away from untapped areas, allowing greater development and exploitation of resources in The Underworld without compromising the planet's integrity. However this proposal is met with many criticisms. There are those who point out that if Aklaerosine production should stall, there is no telling how soon the detritus would run out of fuel and collapse, citing that relying on Wyndelkyndians to provide would be risky. The local life have also developed religious significance as the literal carriers of the world, after being researched they were declared by The Serran Church as holy. This lead to major resistance amongst religious groups. These ideas remain largely theoretical, but some Serran groups driven by the collapse of The Serran Economy are looking for ways to recover.
