Architecture
A beautiful old building done in Old Town style made of brick in a cream color on the outside with a bit more red on the inside. Bar and tables are sturdy wood with metal trim. Buttresses of stone with lamps hanging down from them seem to be placed around the place for decoration rather than support. While the ground floor is the tavern complete with music and even dancing on occasion there is an upper level full of fine rooms. Not quiet as fine as the ones in the grand hotel that opened close to the same time but drunks at the bar often find themselves placed into one for a gold fee.
Defenses
There are magical wards throughout the place set by the true owner that no one really knows. The DC to try and dispell them is 22. Most of the wards go off if someone is trying to walk through a wall or burn the place down though some are silence spells meant to protect special rooms from being heard from the outside.
History
Some say a strange individual, some kind of weird cross between a catharian (AKA Tabaxi) and an aarakocra, came to town one day and flashed a lot of gold. Back then the city council was run by thugs and pirates who were easy to impress with money, especially when a tavern was going to be built. It took all year with a large construction crew but soon Old Town had a shiny new pub. Named for the creator who resembled a bipedal gryphon person the place has stood for over a thousand years. No one knows who owns it now though there are rumors that the gryphon was some kind of wizard who still be haunting the place.
Tourism
Wealthy adventurers, bards, and tourists with money flock to this place to revel in its history and swap stories. Some say deals are made by the wealthy elites of the city somewhere in the silence warded back rooms.
