History
Built near the end of the Melam Empire as a great western port much of it's old town architecture still reflects the period before the empire fell appart, moving to the north of Meeg and becoming the Scarlett Imperium. Auran was left to its own devices and for a thousand years it passed between different hands. Pirates, Bandits, rich traders who wanted their own city, until finally not long after the colapse of the Scarlett Imperium it ratified its constitution and settled on just who got to govern. Thus formed the city council that still stands.
Tourism
Rich tourists interested in impressing their buisness asscoiates and want to look at the gulf love the Overlook the Sea. Wealthy adventurers on the other hand know the head straight for the Gryphon's Respite, best but most expensive tavern in town. The Grand Auran Theater in Old town is another big draw putting on the biggest plays and musicals in the city.
Architecture
Old town reflects the Melam Empire final days style while the upper crust tries to stay fasionable with trends coming from Midronis and the docks just go for what's functional for the current kind of ships used to transport goods. The rest of the city is a bit of a hodgepog of whatever seemed good at the time.
Geography
Sits east of the Azure gulf and withen sight of the Arganth mountains to the north.
