Imperial Dalkori Palace
Purpose / Function
The modern-day purpose of the palace is rather self-explanatory due to its name. During the Imperial Age age it has grown into the massive structure that surmounts the terraced steps that make up the capital, Jos'Dalkar.
Home to the leaders of the Dalkori since the Sundering, the palace shows very little resemblence to the original structure from which it has grown. Constructed as a place of instruction for the followers of the twin gods, Jos'Dar and Jos'Nala in the western portions of the city of Kirinor, it was originally called the Geminate. When the Sundering occurred, the Geminate found itself on the western side of The Rift and more than 100 miles from its original location.
During the intervening years between the Sundering and the beginning of the Restoration, the building was occupied by various squatters. It was not until the beginning of the Recovery and the events that led to the founding of the Dalkori Empire that Kren, an adherent of the twin gods, decided to evict the rabble that was sullying this formerly great structure and make it his home and base of operations. It was Kren who set the stage for the founding of the Dalkori Empire and his daughter Nala who rechristened the structure the "Imperial Dalkori Palace" when she founded the empire in her father's name.
Alterations
The original structure of the Geminate was a large building with the feel of a monastery due to its large libraries and rooms for weapons training and other such martial activities. The original building is dwarfed by the palace as it stands today as wing after wing was added throughout the centuries. Today, the original building can still be found as the northeast wing of the palace. It has been well-kept over the years and is often used to house visiting dignataries and other prixed guests.
