The Barrens

Opposite The Maelstrom is The Barrens, a huge landmass spanning a good portion of the globe. An oddity among the magic community is its strange properties; the further inland you go the less magic seems to function, so much so that inherently magical creatures will suffer great pain should they attempt to travel inland. It is for this reason that the main inhabitants of this area are mostly human or human predecessors. However, reaching the epicenter of this land is unbearable even to the least magical of creatures.
