Ciari

Divine Domains

Fertility

It is the sworn duty of the followers of Ciari to ensure life flourishes, in whatever form that takes. While this notably and most famously includes the act of procreation, those devout to Ciari place equal importance upon the growth of agriculture and animal life as well. Of course, this truth is often overlooked by outsiders, willfully or not, in favor of the somewhat sullied view of Ciari as the patron "lady of the night", particularly due to the mythical story of Ciari and Ibuso's fated relationship. Naturally, Ciari's followers know her pure intentions and seek to correct the view of their deity.

Farming

Closely related to the importance of Fertility to Ciari's followers is the importance of Farming. While many of Omiralon's inhabitants downplay their dependence on those devout to Ciari, the vast majority of the continent's provisions are farmed by their hands, whether those farmers were trained in the trade first and were converted, or the devout took up the sacred practice. Regardless, the worship of Ciari, and in fact, the worshippers themselves take on an earthy, sometimes even uneducated, reputation.

The Weather

The followers of Ciari and the followers of Aoqos often find common ground when it comes to the topic of weather. The pair of deities are often seen with a complementary but opposite dualism, with mutual respect for the other deity healthy in each faith. The more sedentary followers of Ciari admire the followers of Aoqos for their bravery and enthusiasm, while the followers of Aoqos have a strong respect for Ciari's governance of weather and find Ciari's devout a grounded and practical people that provide a much-needed link to Omiralon overall.

Tenets of Faith

  • A gentle but firm touch nurtures the soil and soul alike.
  • Life's perseverance depends on the increase of its abundance.
  • For life to flourish, rain and sun are required in equal measure.

Holidays

Lifebirth is a three-day feast held during the first full moon of Kirafis during Adriem. The feast celebrates the frequent births of children during the month, praising Ciari for their entrance into the world. While not as raucous or lively as other holidays, the celebration is still one of joy, gathering most of any given settlement's inhabitants for the occasion. Blessings are said for any child born during the feast, with most of Ciari's followers believing the event to be an excellent omen for the child's life, despite the feast occurring near the beginning of the cold months.   Dathuil, or the "Seeds of Life" in the Trader's Tongue, is a lively five-day celebration of the beginning of spring and the planting season, held during the last five days of the first full week of Sindam. The festivities often include retellings of the story in which Ciari seeds the fertile land prior to the creation fo the inhabitants of Omiralon, creating the first farm. Weddings during this time are highly desired, with the belief that Ciari will grant children quickly if observed, giving the holiday the nickname the "Festival of Love". In some regions, particularly human and elven, believers dress in thin, flowing clothing during this time, further reinforcing the reputation of the celebration as "overly erotic" to those not devout to Ciari. (Most dwarven cultures are notable opponents to the festival.) The daily celebration typically begins during the mid-afternoon, lasting into the night.
