Lich King of the Black Keep
The Lich King of the Black Keep was a Lich who terrorized the countryside of Dreibach (particularly County Brightwater) from Y1085-Y1094.
The Lich King was once a Human Wizard named Iohan Lutvigien, famed for his knowledge of the history of magic. As he aged, though, he became increasingly frantic about the looming spectre of death, knowledgeable as he was about the frailty of mortals in general and humans in particular. He published a number of increasingly disturbing treatises on the history of Vecna and various other figures in dark magic, then suddenly disappeared.
He reappeared in Y1085 in grand fashion, releasing a magical pestilence upon the village of Mardren that rotted the residents and all their crops and animals from the inside out. He took over the long-abandoned Black Keep and raised an army from there. In Y1090, he compelled Lord Jheronimous to turn away from the Commonwealth Rangers and serve him, creating the Dread Battalion.
The Lich King was defeated in Y1094 by the Heroes of Brightwater. In the process, however, he killed Susanna te-Brigantia and (some say) Lucretia Britt.
