Ajax Class Light Cruiser

The Ajax Class Cruiser was the first line of capital ships employed by the TASA Space Corps. The Ajax Class barely had more firepower than the much smaller Achilles Class Frigate, but had greater armor and operational range. The Ajax could also support Marine landing operations on a greater scale than the Achilles class.   Like other first generation TASA ships, the Ajax class quickly became obsolete by more efficient designs. Since larger ships were harder to construct and replace, the Ajax Class hung around the longest, being re-designated as a "light" cruiser to differentiate between the newer Ares Class Cruiser and Atlas Class Heavy Cruiser. The last Ajax Class Cruisers were retired after the System Wide War. The TSS Nova Scotia is kept in orbit as a museum piece, while most of the rest have been scrapped or sold to other organizations.
