Óglaigh na hAennaneth

The Óglaigh na hAennaneth (lit. 'Soldiers of the Aennaneth) is the army of Sa-Reshi, the Rotting King. It is split into five sub-armies, each led directly by Sa-Reshi, and her four Cùin-Shithe.

The current strength of Sa-Reshi's armies sit at around 22,000 soldiers overall.
This includes:

• The First Army of Sa-Reshi: ~6000 soldiers.
• The Second Army of Brigit: ~4000 soldiers.
• The Third Army of Anu: ~4000 soldiers.
• The Fourth Army of Nodens: ~3000 soldiers.
• The Fifth Army of Taranis: ~5000 soldiers.

This is by no means the limit of what Sa-Reshi can raise. Many scholars believe that she could raise up over two hundred thousand men in an actual conflict. However, she favours a more elite corps of warriors and rigid tactics over masses.

Structure

Officially, Sa-Reshi acts in direct command of each of the armies, and reserves the right to exert her control at any time, for any reason. However, she grants each of her four Cùin-Shithe the privilege to command one of her armies.
The structure of each of these armies is generally rather rigid. They include

• The basic command (Sa-Reshi or one of the Cùin-Shithe, and their bodyguards and retinues).
• One to three of the 13 Circles.
• Three units of necromancers (about 60 each, for a total of 180).
• Five units of Great Infantry (including anything from half giants, to minotaurs, to ents). About 100 total.
• The elite infantry corps (armed with halberds for bracing against charges, and sword and buckler for intimate melee combat). They make up the bulk of the armies.
• The supply train.
• The undead (which do not factor into overall troop count).

History

The Óglaigh na hAennaneth were founded following the signing of the Sevenfold Pact, the official end of the Universal War, and the founding of the Aennanethi Witch-Empire. It is the heir to the heavily Necromancer reliant military structure that won Sa-Reshi one of the victor spots, and has not changed much since then, though it is still extremely effective.
