Hankali

I'm uncertain of what it actually is or what purpose it serves but I know that they do not want me anywhere near it or the Rousing Chamber in general for that matter. They are drawn to this place and protect it like a newborn cub, I had never seen them so strict and stern before. It was quite terrifying.
— excerpt from Charting Lanfe by Sawari "Seeker" Idan

In the heart of the city of Bakin Karfe also known as Ferrum to the Kindled, there lays within an area known as the Rousing Chamber a monolith from an ancient civilization. Its true purpose is unknown but the Kindled revere this monument and are drawn to it like a moth to a flame. They call it Hankali and it is the precious gem of Ferrum that must be guarded fiercely.

Purpose / Function

The true purpose of Hankali is unknown to most but the Kindled. They do not divulge the secrets of its draw, but there have been people who have tried to observe their behaviors revolving around it.

The explorer Sawari "Seeker" Idan on his grand charting wandered upon Hankali and was quickly forced out of the Rousing Chamber where it is held. He made note of how the Kindled turned highly protective and did not answer any questions he had.

Kindled on the surface have been heard repeating the name Hankali almost as in a trance like state, these same Kindled would spend a lot of time looking for ways to get to The Depths obsessively.

Kindled enter the Rousing Chamber for hours only to exit out and act as though nothing has happened. It has also been rumored that after returning from visiting Hankali, that some Kindled act differently, perform task they did not before, and even left their home of Bakin Karfe.

Alterations

There have been no known alterations to Hankali but during its excavation, it was polished and refined, almost as an reverent ritual of supplication by the Kindled.

Architecture

Hankali according to the few reports of its sighting, is made of an organic looking black stone that is infused with a green mineral like substance that runs along it like veins on an arm. It is shaped a bit like an upside down arch that meets in the middle and continues downward towards the ground, of which it hovers above.
