Bakin Karfe
To say this ruin is pristine is clearly contradictory but I have never seen a place so organized and well tended, even while the archways crack and rubble falls from the ceilings. Not even the darkness of The Depths can seem to dim the light that emanates this bustling city.
Bakin Karfe is an ancient city deep within The Depths and is home to many Kindled. It could be considered a ruin but the denizens do not treat it as such, they maintain the city infrastructure best they can and protect the city as if it is the most precious place on Lanfe. Many alleys and corridors lead to dead ends but if one takes time to learn the city they will see that even the chaos has order.
Demographics
Most of the population of Bakin Karfe is Kindled. They do not have any wealth strata but they do represent all common professions. Masons, chefs, protectors, blacksmiths, carpenters, and even engineers are present here and most are Kindled. The non-kindled that live in Bakin Karfe are mostly people who have no other place to go or inquisitive folks trying to under the Kindled that live there or the secrets hidden in the city.
Government
There is no need for a governmental body when the city is ran by the denizens wholly, all doing their part to maintain and protect the city. There is a social contract in place, if you live in Bakin Karfe you become the city and just like one would care there own body you care for the city as your own.
Defences
Location is the greatest defense that Bakin Karfe has being situated in The Depths however, The Depths is arguably more dangerous than the surface of Lanfe therefore other protections are needed. Another defense the city has is its maze like structure, winding paths that lead to nowhere. The final defense is the denizens of the city, for they try to protect it from any invading force.
Infrastructure
The city structures that have not crumpled are maintained, this includes bridges, courtyards, and buildings. There is not much new infrastructure save for bridges that connect parts of the city that are breaking off from the main land. The city has artisan shops, forges, and masonries, but there is no need for sewers in a city of mostly Kindled.
Districts
There are only a few designated wards within the city; the workshops where the denizens make things, the sleeping quarters for those passing through that require sleep, and the Rousing Chamber which only Kindled are allowed to enter.
