The party enters the strange ruins, and finds themselves seemingly transported to a variety of locations; being assailed by various creatures and people, before waking up to see an extremely confused Therrik.
A Silent Entrance
The party, having found themselves on the steps of a subterranean structure of white stone and glowing blue veins, enter cautiously. The hallway is large and echoing, but seemingly empty.
Fork even noted that there didn't seem to much dust or debris. They moved forward cautiously, with
Fork a short distance ahead to scout. He returned to the group however, as the hallway they traveled opened up into a vast chamber. One in which the party, even with darkvision, lost track of the walls and ceiling.
Crossing this chamber, the group finds a way out; as the walls come back into view, and a pathway through a massive circular doorway of a sort comes into view. It seems etched in symbols along its edge, but cracked, and inactive. That said, the party heard, or perhaps felt, a thrumming in their heads, which grew louder as they approached. Their vision, and minds, seemed to be somewhat out of focus. Tentative about the entryway,
Tilly and
Vita attempted to determine if there was any active magical effect or trap, to no avail. When
Therrik started poking at it without any notable effect, the party decided not to waste any more time, and stepped through.
Parallels
Stepping through the gateway, the thrumming grew instantly intense, and their vision went black, before they found themselves in an initially incomprehensible situation. After a few moments, it became clear that each of them seemed to believe that the group collectively was somewhere else.
Tilly was confident she was touching a tree, but to others she had her hand in the air.
Vita seemed to dash up to a door, but
Brian watched her run straight through a cliffside.
Therrik seemed to be missing outright. The confusing nature of the place, and these parallel realities, fell by the wayside as a sense of dread fell over the party; theses realities rippling in a strange iridescent wave.
Whereas everyone seemingly had found themselves somewhere different, it seems that
Brian's experience was shunted onto the others. The rest of the party watched their realities evaporate into an iridescent sort of fog, before reforming into what
Brian had seen originally. For the others though, this place seemed out of focus, and the shimmer across all surfaces suggested to them it wasn't truly real. But for
Brian, it seemed real enough, as a large flying creature swept in to attack him.
Over the next minute or so, the party found themselves shifting through various scenes, fighting all manner of creatures.
Tilly's wild magic seemed to trigger incessantly inside a forest grove, where the party found themselves up against
Mary and a mass of seemingly feral clones.
Vita found herself voiceless against a sneering tiefling and her devil cohorts, and
Maldwyn outright fled from an unusually large fairy that seemed fixated on hurting him.
As the party attacked these various visages, each transition of swirling iridescent mists grew less intense, until the very fabric of the place seemed paper thin. When the massive creature from the cliffside environment
Brian had found himself initially in, seemed to follow the party to a series of city streets, the party was able to inflict enough damage to shatter these realities as a whole, finding themselves waking up with a start; an extremely confused
Therrik looking warily at them all.
