Kat'astrom'a
The Kat'astrom'a (Gotthikós) is the name given to the approximately company-level unit of Antak'ya's military. Consisting of unaugmented human warriors armed in a similar fashion to Gue'vesa forces in service to the T'au Empire, a Kat'astom'a consists of 50 servicemen (supported by four semi-autonomous drones) broken into four Kost'oum'i consisting of 12 warriors and one drone each, supported by two An'oitos (roughly equivalent to a Commissar in an Astra Militarum regiment).
Composition
Manpower
Fifty warriors, broken into four Kost'oum'i (roughly equivalent to a squad) of twelve warriors each, with two An'oitos (serving the same functions as a Comissar in an Astra Militarum regiment). Each Kost'oum'i has an identfying heraldic charger taken from the Septemvian military forces Antak'ya is descended from (heart, spade, club, diamond).
A Kat'astrom'a can also be divided into two Kr'oma (Gotthikós: "color") of two Kost'oum'i each (one red and one black). This division serves no practical or tactical purpose, but friendly "intercolor rivalry" is common.
Equipment
Kat'astrom'a infantrymen wear flak armor and are accompanied by semi-autonomous weapon drones (one drone for each Kost'oum'i). They are equipped with a variety of support systems - some of T'au origin, others Imperial - such as scanners, visual enhancements, illumination technologies, and communication systems.
Weaponry
Kat'astrom'a infantrymen are armed with T'au weaponry similar to that used by Gue'vesa forces; pulse rifles and carbines, with pulse pistols as backup sidearms. Each also carries a brace - one longer, one shorter - of curved swords as a melee weapon (the shorter is capable of being attached as a bayonet to the service weapon).
Structure
A Kat'astrom'a has no single commander and is instead lead by a council of the Vas'iliss'a of the four Kost'oum'i, although the senior Vas'iliss'a is often defered to. This lack of formal leadership is not a detriment, because of the way the forces of the Kat'astrom'a are deployed.
Tactics
Individual warriors from a Kat'astrom'a are selected for particular missions and deployments and assembled into ad hoc squads called kh'eri as mission parameters and needs dictate. A Vas'iliss'a or Vas'ilias may be attached to a kh'eri as needed.
