Rapaport Family
During the 1800s (in Overlord years, of course), Denyithragorathia was ruled by three sisters for thirty years, a decade for each. They were native Gorathians who staged an uprising against the rather corrupt leader of the time.
The first, and eldest, was Mariamne the Radical. She was one of the original writers of the Overlord’s Code, hence the title her name is appended with. She was a strong-willed woman and a skilled leader who was able to turn a rather desperate financial situation into a means of parleying her support for the other overlords, creating strong diplomatic ties.
She retired in order to marry Autesion, the king of Uncambel. Since, up until that point, she had been decisively against overlords marrying, it was a shock to almost everyone. The marriage was the first time the overlords tried to use the Code as a strict legal guideline to limit one of their fellows from doing what they felt was a harmful move. Autesion and Mariamne ignored it all, and showed that while publicly overlords might have a harder time of it romantically, in private they were quite ordinary couples.
The second was Melisandra the Strong, also known as Melisandra IV. The latter title because there were actually three other Overlords named Melisandra. The former title came from her determination, as she was not physically a strong person. In fact, she was quite frail, which lead to the eventual foreshortening of her reign. Until then, however, she led the field against heroic interlocutors with cunning and courage and a lot of very big guns. More than most other overlords (save those of Prazigal), Melisandra had an appreciation for the explosive arts, and it is thanks to her that the Castle of Terror has an extensive network of defensive turrets and a large stockpile of things that go “boom.”
The third and last was Merula the Black. Since Mariamne solidified Gorathia’s political and financial future, and Melisandra made us a military power and something to be feared, it was Merula who was responsible for the image of “evil” that made Gorathia a popular proving ground for heroes. Drawing her strategies from The Overlord's Code, Merula used Kazan’s strategy of working with a specific group of heroes to build up an interesting story to unfold. From the time she ascended the throne to the time she abdicated, she had a specifically kept plan.
