Denyithragorathia
Since Denyithragorathia is a ridiculously long name, it is commonly shortened to Gorathia, and either name is acceptable on official documents. Most people never use Denyithragorathia, but the name has been around since there was a country with a formally recognized government in this geographical location, so it still gets used and remembered. But everyone agrees that Gorathia is just so much more practical.
The official symbol of its last seven rulers has been a red eagle on a black field, with a notably cruel expression on the face of the eagle. It was, however, recently changed to a blue dragon on a black field, at the urging of its latest Overlord.
The capitol is the building the Castle of Terror.
Gorathia was one of the Seven Kingdoms.
Territories
Gorathia is primarily a blackened, rough landscape with jagged protrusions rising from the earth and winding dusty roads to connect everything together. Most of those protrusions are not tall enough to qualify as mountains but as hills. I would not recommend climbing those hills, however. The jagged appearance is entirely apropos. Also, to assuage those with nasal sensitivities, the countryside is not overly dusty, and the dust on the road is an advance warning system.
The country has a unique scent, usually described as black smoke, hot and dry, with hints of singed flowers. To those unaccustomed this is harsh and burnt, to those more familiar it is considered to be more like incense. The light of the sun over Gorathia tints everything a dark red, causing shadows that render a dramatic tinge to even the smoother landscapes. In the full light of the afternoon it lends a certain intense glow to the geography.
Cloud cover is rare and usually only occurs during storms. There are occasional firestorms, but these are highly infrequent. They feature large numbers of fireballs and are usually heralded by black clouds. The wind can be quite severe, and carries sound very well.
There are very few bodies of water in Gorathia, let alone any large enough to warrant the creation of a navy. Nevertheless, Gorathia possesses a navy that is fiercely protective of its skill and position, and are among the most fanatical of loyalists.
Agriculture & Industry
There are a number of unique plants in Gorathia that are uniquely suited to its environment. They usually do well in heat, and while most are not toxic they can be somewhat pointy and inclined to latch on to the unwary. Common plants include Brangel’s chamomile, bumblebee sage, caladrangus tree, Moring flower and wine root. The latter is the national flower. It was originally going to be the Moring flower because of its rather aggressive nature, but was changed to wine root at the last minute because intoxicating plants make for entertaining festival days.
We guard our natural resources aggressively, and we always have. Gorathia is possessed of very few naturally occurring amenities, and so from a very early stage we protected what little there was. Gorathia is large, so buildings appear sparse and isolated, and towns seem to be lonely sites. This is far from the case, as there is quite an extensive underground infrastructure supporting the country. While most people are happy to live on the surface, the majority of work and production occurs underground, away from potential dangers and where byproducts are less likely to interfere with ecosystems.
