Salonius the Great

The popular Peligoran leader is arguably one of the greatest statesmen of recent history. He received his title posthumously for his extensive work in promoting trade and commerce within his own country. This came about partially because of the equally extensive work he put into the treaties and alliances with the neighbors of Peligora, most of which still stand today without addendum or alteration. This includes two trade agreements with Denyithragorathia that still works to the mutual benefit of both countries, in spite of the fact that one is “good” and the other “evil” as they have been since before the agreement was made.
For all that he is most noted as a statesman, Salonius is also remembered for his successful defense of Peligora from invasion by Zol-Tero. This particular plan was decades in the making and spanned the lifetimes of more than one of their overlords. Salonius lacked the manpower to properly defend his borders, so he instead invested in some rather unique security systems and an extensive spy network that was sufficient to warn Peligora of the impending invasion, which in turn allowed the highly intelligent Salonius to tailor his response. It also gave him enough time to seal off the Cave of Romance, which proved significant. After this victory, he was sensible enough not to rest on his laurels but kept military presence high enough to dissuade Varios from taking a similar action.
As worthy as Salonius the Great was, his successor Salonius the Gray is not.
