Automated Cargo Conveyor

"Transportation of additional hazardous material set to be carried by ACC from PA6.4-42 to PS6.4-41 by 17 Four 4748 PT."

Purpose

The Automated Cargo Conveyor (ACC) is designed to transport raw materials to Factory Planets and then transport created goods from these Factory Planets to the civilised planets and space stations, to then be distributed across the Peacekeeper Territories.   The ACC comes as standard with a single cargo hold, which carries up to 500 tonnes. It is possible, with the current v7 model, to attach up to 14 additional cargo holds to the ACC, allowing for a maximum capacity of 7,500 tonnes worth of material or resources.

Propulsion

The ACCs travel along ACC Routes which dictate the pre-defined courses the ACCs take between planets. These routes are laid while plans for travel between the planets are being agreed upon.   It is powered by thrusters which force it out of the atmosphere and the gravitational pull of the planet or space station it starts from. These thrusters keep it stabilised and allow it to continue on the required route.

Power

The ACC models prior to the v4 upgrade relied on battery power which was generated by the departure point and stored in large cells, which took up the space of the initial cargo hold.   Since the v4 upgrade, this reliance on batteries has been replaced by the introduction of Larite cells, allowing the vehicle to gain power from the nearby stars within the solar system it is travelling through.

"It is tragic when an unsuspecting spacecraft accidentally crosses through an ACC Route. That there is never a dent on the ACC would be impressive, were it not for the inevitable loss of life from those on the spacecraft.   It's a mistake no one is able to make twice."

Armor & Defenses

These vehicles have no requirement for weaponry, but they are built to withstand the potential for hijacking or robbery. They have a thick outer covering, and, generally speaking, travel too fast to be stopped or impeded.

Communication & Systems

Automated Cargo Conveyors are monitored and controlled by people working within Peacekeeper Efficiency from their base in Space Station One.   For the most part, the systems which are set up both within the ACC and within SS1 make it possible to preprogram more than two-thirds of the instructions required for easy transit. However, the remaining one-third can be controlled easily by an individual remotely from the Space Station.

"The Automated Cargo Conveyor (ACC) revolutionised the ability of The Alliance to streamline its previously resource-heavy haulage processes. These unmanned vehicles follow predefined routes between planets and easily facilitate the transportation of goods and raw materials to and from Factory Planets.   Since their introduction, the ACC has a successful haulage rate of 97.54%, and has reduced the fatality rate associated with sending personnel to the uninhabitable Factory Planets from 48.32% to zero."
