Greenfeather Bird

The greenfeather bird is a Pakali-Pakamuut equivalent of the "quetzal". These relatively small animals are hard to see or find, which is why the Kukai see them as a symbol of destiny, great luck and sometimes magic. It is also rare to hear any kind of sound coming from a greenfeather bird. In fact, some people believe that when this bird sings, your destiny will be revealed. The tail feather of these species are highly valued specially by the Nur and the Tat. Such items may only be dropped by a greenfeather bird when it sings.

Basic Information

Anatomy

As the name implies, this bird has feathers of a rare shade of green, which makes it look somewhat metallic. The tail has extremely long feathers with patterns of different colors at the end, usually red, yellow, orange and/or blue. Although similar at first sight, each pattern is different for every greenfeather bird. They are medium sized birds, but some Kukai consider them small, mostly because its actual body is half the size of the tail feathers.

Ecology and Habitats

Although the greenfeather bird is present all around the tropical rain forest, it's an extremely rare sight. They tend to fly above the tallest trees to avoid being caught by predators, making their nests in high places and most of the time hidden within the foliage of trees.

Dietary Needs and Habits

These birds eat seeds, small fruits and insects, with the latter being a more common part of their daily diet. It is rare for a greenfeather bird to be on ground level, but they may do so in order to get water when their fruits are not enough to hydrate them. These birds isolate themselves from any other species and tend to fly most of the time.
