House of Brattice

The House of Brattice was a Dwarven noble family, concerned with Mining. Although they may have proceeded the Age of the Goblins, their heyday was the during the Goblinoid control of the Noble Court. The Goblins used coal and metal for their military campaigns, but with no blacksmithing god, they turned to the more mundane mining methods of the Brattice Family.

Significant Individuals

Vizier Gannister Brattice (born 863 - died 1045)
Vizier Gannister Brattice
House Brattice had been accumulating wealth throughout the Age of the Goblins, and Vizier Gannister Brattice was the Vizier in charge of the mines at the time the Apocalypse of the Final Shot hit. As a result, Gannister was the wealthiest member of the noble house, making his way to the 7th position into Carnegie’s Encyclopediæ of the twenty richest individuals in history.   Gannister perished in the Apocalypse, and although the House survived the disaster where many others fell, it never recovered its former glory and eventually petered out.

Disbandment

After the Apocalypse of the Final Shot, House Brattice had to pour resources into the repair of the mines. Around this time, Palimpsest fell to Orcish control and coal and metals could be more easily obtained through worship of Termagant, the Iron Sultan(a).   This eventually led to the House of Brattice petering out. As the family declined, many of their mines were purchased for cheaper than they were worth by Stonewall Rockefeller, who now owns a great deal of real estate in the Dwarven Settlements.
