Painting of Yvette and Hugo Dargent

This painting was painted by Yvette, the courtesan when Hugo Dargent was visiting her. It was supposedly part of a plan to circulate a court rumour that the pair were having an affair, in order to allow Hugo to meet in secret with Castor Stargazer.

Significance

Golden Slumbers
Like with much of Yvette's artwork, the painting is a pastiche to the erotic Qu'onan the Warrior Elf series, by Talitha Spice. Correctly banking on Hugo having never read the reference novel (Golden Slumber), Yvette seems to have been amusing herself when she painted it, drawing parallels between the novel's plot (in which a harem of deadly courtesans use poison to put their male victims to sleep) and the dangerous situation that Hugo was unknowingly in at the time.
