Helping Hands

General Summary

Brogach was looking for a quick way to make some money, and any job was a job. A cryptically written note to meet under the moonlight was no exception. So he met in Warhaven with Milo and the recently arrived Tora to take the mystery job. As promised as the moon rose high in the sky outside the gates of Warhaven they met with a cloaked figure who seemed friendly enough but had gone to great lengths to cover up any bit of skin he could. They'd be tasked with moving some crates then defending the wagons they'd be transported on. After being assured these crates were not being stolen and a reminder that the note asked for those with tight lips along with a promise of gold the party eventually agreed to come with.

After an exhausting ride, all the way from Warhaven to PERN with nary a moments rest the party was finally allowed to relax and make camp just outside the imposing walls of the little settlement. Though oddly enough both their horses and their guide showed no signs of fatigue. But the group was too tired for questions, so they took the rest while they could get it, waking in the morning to find a mass of people swarming around the settlement. It seems they weren't the only ones hired for manual labor, many people ran in and out of PERN loading boxes onto wagons under the watchful eye of guards dressed in simple, ill-fitting armor. The party resisted their urge to ask too many questions as they assisted moving crates that were apparently assigned to them to their designated wagons. With their manual labor done Milo demanded that he be paid for the work already done, arguing that moving crates was one job and that guarding a wagon was another. Their guide eventually agreed, paying them for their work and hopping up onto a wagon that held some of the crates they'd loaded, ordering the party to follow along.

To the dismay of those who had been in the Havens long enough to hear the rumors of undead, the party followed the wagon into the the Black Forest. As they neared their apparent destination of Rogue Harbor the party felt they might have managed a luckily safe journey. Though as night started to fall their luck ran out as horrible undead creatures came sprinting at the party from the trees. Brogach kept the cart and their employer safe while Milo and Tora made quick work of their undead foes. A few beheaded ghouls later they finally emerged from the Black Forest and safely into Rogue Harbor. Milo attempted to persuade their employer for better pay, but after Brogach was caught trying to use the negotiations as a distraction to pinch some of their employer's jewelry, their talks ended abruptly as he departed with the goods they'd helped him deliver.
